Souper Bowl Sunday
February 7, 2010 is Super Bowl Sunday. Each year on this date, Mission Centers of Houston focuses on feeding Houston’s hungry by participating in Souper Bowl of Caring (www.souperbowl.org). During church services on Sunday, February 7, 2010, participants are asked to donate either a canned food item or $1 to our charity. With the expectation that nearly everyone can afford either $1 or a can of food to donate, the cumulative effort of the church can significantly impact our efforts to help those in need of food.
The plan is simple. If you’d like to help, please promote Souper Bowl of Caring at your church on Super Bowl Sunday. You can do this by collecting an offering of $1 per person or a canned food item as people leave the service. Many churches involve their youth or children in this promotion by having them hold soup pots as offering plates at the exits of each door. After the offering, mail or deliver the donation to Mission Centers of Houston. Contact info@missioncenters.org for delivery information. Finally, register your group with Souper Bowl of Caring (www.souperbowl.org) so you can report your totals to this organization. (You do not mail your donation to Souper Bowl of Caring, just simply report the amount of support raised for Mission Centers of Houston). You will also find publicity materials on their site.
Thank you for helping MCH feed Houston’s hungry!
