Time for an update!
Restoration had the chance to put on an After Harvey Resource Fair in 3 different communities through the months of March and April. We were hosted by House of Grace, Bethany Baptist Church and La Tierra Prometida Iglesia Bautista ~ all three were a blessing to serve with!
These Fairs are an opportunity for the local church to open their doors in a new way ~ we bring in vendors (Build it Forward, Legacy Healthcare, Lone Star legal, Harris County Community Service Dept, to name a few) who have services to offer that are beneficial to the community, specifically targeting those who are still suffering with Harvey related issues. Our intake information allows us to connect these needy families with faith-based caseworkers and organizations/services that are most viable for their needs. While helping with the physical, the church is also there for the spiritual. Our prayer is that people will come to know Jesus through the process… that the church would become their ‘go to’ place in times of trouble, that they will find ‘family’ in the truest sense of the word.
In the last month alone, we have been able to help over 40 families start the process of restoration… these are families who had fallen through the cracks, no help after Harvey. Amazing, right?!
